Ballincollig is a town on the River Lee to the west of Cork city, brought within the Cork City Council boundary in 2019. At the 2016 census, the Ballincollig electoral division recorded a population of 18,621, then the largest town in County Cork. Landmarks include Ballincollig Regional Park, a 135-acre site incorporating the former Royal Gunpowder Mills, established in 1794, and the ruined Ballincollig Castle.
