Dundalk is the largest town in County Louth, midway between Dublin and Belfast and close to the border with Northern Ireland. Its 2022 Census population was 43,112 in the urban area, or 64,287 across the wider municipal district. The town developed from a Norman stronghold into a 19th-century manufacturing centre.
